Building better communities
We believe good work extends beyond the workplace into our communities

Supporting young talent in motorsport
Investing beyond the workplace
At O'Grady Electrical Engineering, we believe social value is about creating opportunities for people to develop their potential, both within our industry and within the wider community.
As part of this commitment, we proudly sponsor young motorsport driver Zain Kwekha as he progresses through the highly competitive Junior Saloon Car Championship.
Zain began his motorsport journey in karting, competing at circuits across the UK and Europe before progressing into competitive car racing. Through hard work, dedication and consistent performance, he has achieved numerous podium finishes and race victories, demonstrating the determination and commitment required to compete at a high level.
Our sponsorship helps support a young person pursuing excellence in a demanding sporting environment, enabling access to equipment, race preparation and competitive opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to access.
The values demonstrated by Zain, including commitment, resilience, discipline and continuous improvement, closely reflect those we encourage within our own workforce.
By supporting young people to pursue ambitious goals, whether in engineering, education or sport, we aim to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate and help create opportunities for future success.
Outcomes:
- Creation of long term employment opportunities
- Investment in local skills development
- Support for young people entering the workforce
- Development of future industry professionals
- Retention of skills within local communities

Developing Future Electrical Engineers
Creating Sustainable Employment Pathways
O'Grady Electrical Engineering has built its reputation on investing in people. As a growing business, we recognise that developing skilled local talent is essential to both our future and the long term sustainability of the electrical engineering sector.
We actively recruit apprentices from local communities and provide structured training, mentoring and practical site experience across a wide range of commercial, industrial and social housing projects. Apprentices are given the opportunity to develop their skills while working alongside experienced engineers who support their professional growth and development.
From their first day with the business, apprentices gain valuable hands on experience, helping them build confidence, technical knowledge and an understanding of industry best practice.
Many apprentices progress into permanent positions within the business, creating sustainable employment opportunities and helping to address skills shortages within the sector. By investing in apprenticeship opportunities, we are not only developing the next generation of electricians but also creating lasting economic and social benefits for local communities.
Outcomes:
- Creation of long term employment opportunities
- Investment in local skills development
- Support for young people entering the workforce
- Development of future industry professionals
- Retention of skills within local communities

Opening doors through work experience
Inspiring Future Careers in Engineering
Providing meaningful work experience opportunities is a key part of O'Grady Electrical Engineering's commitment to supporting education and career development within the communities we serve.
Working with local schools and education providers, we offer students the opportunity to gain first hand insight into the electrical engineering industry through structured work experience placements.
Participants are introduced to a variety of career pathways, from on-site engineering and installation roles through to project management, administration and operational support functions. This helps young people understand the breadth of opportunities available within the sector while developing confidence, employability skills and workplace awareness.
Many students have limited exposure to construction and engineering careers. By providing practical experiences and access to industry professionals, we help bridge the gap between education and employment, encouraging future participation in skilled trades and technical professions.
Our aim is simple. To give young people valuable experiences that help them make informed decisions about their future while building stronger connections between education and industry.
Outcomes:
- Increased engagement between education providers and employers
- Improved awareness of skilled career pathways
- Development of employability and workplace skills
- Support for young people exploring future careers
- Stronger links between local businesses and schools
